And here I was sure they were friends.
Bela, one night, for my neck did try,
till his cape got caught on the fence!

When Lon grew a beard I found it quite odd,
was it real or he used super glue?

and then green-slimed me right 'cross the gut!

I took the gift of light for granted-
Assuming I would always see
But when my world darkened-
My fears took the best of me

And I would give anything
Just to see a spark or a glow
But my faith was also fading
Withering away like my hope

But they were just figments from the past
A false savior that I could only hide behind

The shadows were becoming my mask
It was shielding me from living my life

I felt rain falling endlessly / Like infinite liquid apologies

Reality shed the blackness / The roars fiercely pier

I refuse to feel weakness

I guess this is how I really pictured my own end
I just want it to finally be over with, I won't resent death

I remember sitting in the back of class
Whether it was english, history, science, or math
Staring at the clock; waiting to be free
Praying to God the teacher wouldn't pick me

Funny thing is; it's not like I wasn't prepared
I had most of the answers; though the teacher wasn't aware
But when I would raise my hand to answer a question
The teacher ignored me; never looked in my direction

This bugged me to absolutely no end
How could she pretend that I didn't understand
I'd keep my hand raised for what felt like days
But she'd call on a friend to much of my dismay

But what bugged me more; what I couldn't believe
When I didn't

And you demand that I live in fear

I gave you everything that you have ever asked
But I never got anything in return for any of that
Although you still managed to continually stab me in the back

Your name is remorse
And you wish for me abide by a damaging oath

Nothing but puppet, as I was used as your scapegoat
Sinister strings guided me to cast aside all forms of hope
We considered each other friends, because you were all I used to know

Time Is The Cure

Right hand of destruction
Left hand of creation

It's a never ending cycle
A fatal revival caught in a downward spiral

I tear down reality’s mask
As I build up a truth to give hope a chance

The veiled darkness decays
The guiding light fades

I let go of an old pain
As new tears wash it away

The moon always sets

The rain subsides
The storm is put to rest

Clouds confide / Memories detest
Skies collide / Cries confessed

Light shines / Dark regrets
Pain hides / Peace professed

A new day awaits
An old night forgotten

Tomorrow I shall awake
To cradle what remains unbroken}

But I can't let them define my fate

There's always control

Flawed Salvation

Flawed Salvation

/Liquid fire\
Sorrow melts and reforms
As heat seeps through my skin
/Frozen water\
Reflections of my childhood are torn
As frost settles on me once again

Restless echoes ramble on
Retelling me the stories of yesterday
I remember when my courage was withdrawn
"And you left yourself vulnerable to those crimes of hate."

The liquidsparks flicker
And I wince at that one memory
Then my inner voice suddenly stutters
"I don't know h-how you survived such t-treachery."

Snowflakes descend gracefully
As a cold-burning tear rolls down
I will never know real serenity

Apart from the reference to the New Testament, I must note about several aspects of this poem that interested me to write this. The use of several formats shows a keen sense of style that I found in a few other works till now. The lines with bold type divided by back slash or the italicized type which usually suggests emphasis or asides [internal monologues], for instance. A collage of ideas and expressions that was surely intended. The length and format of this poem, on the whole, was quite fair. There was an essential slanted rhyme in the italics that I detected too. I shall not belabor about the Bible, though. Good work.
